1. The setup wizard
Every new account starts in a short guided setup. Nothing here is a commitment — everything the wizard configures can be changed later from Settings.
-
1
Your organisation
Find your business on Google or the Australian Business Register and the details fill themselves in — or type them manually. No business name yet? Use a working title and rename it whenever the real one lands.
-
2
Business type
Tell us whether you run projects, sell services by the hour, sell products, or bill subscriptions — the dashboard, metrics and module suggestions adapt to match.
-
3
Modules
The wizard suggests modules for your business type, pre-ticked. Untick anything you don't want; add anything it didn't suggest. Nothing you leave off ever appears in your workspace.
-
4
AI & payments
Choose which AI runs your smart features — including a model you host yourself, so customer data never reaches a third-party AI vendor — and optionally connect Wise for payments.
-
5
Accounts & banks
Import your existing data, start from a standard AU/NZ chart of accounts, or start blank — then add your bank accounts, from Wise or manually with opening balances.
2. The Setup Hub picks up the rest
After the wizard, the app's Setup Hub gives you a checklist for everything else, tracks your progress automatically, and marks what's required versus merely recommended. You can do the items in any order, and come back any time:
- Logo & branding
- GST / tax rates
- Default payment terms
- Team members & permissions
- Products & services
- Employees & payroll
- Bank feeds
- Online payments
Your logo, once uploaded, flows everywhere it should — invoices, proposals, and the client portal. If you gave the wizard a website, Allwis reads your brand colours from it and offers to apply them to your workspace.
3. You only see what you turn on
The core — CRM, invoicing, accounting, reporting — is always there. Everything else is an optional module: off by default, invisible until enabled, and switchable at any time from Settings. A no-frills service business stays no-frills.
The full list, with what each module does, is on the Modules page.
4. Starting without a name — or without a website
You don't need a settled business name, a logo or a website to start. Enable the Websites module and publish a customer-facing site from a starter template — or describe your business in a sentence and let AI generate the pages, with your branding applied automatically once you have some. Rename the organisation, swap the logo and rebuild the site as often as you like; nothing downstream breaks.
5. Coming from another system?
If you already run your books elsewhere, the migration wizard brings across your chart of accounts, contacts, opening balances and history — connecting directly where the system supports it, and reading exports or CSV where it doesn't. What comes across from where, what's live on day one, and how the one-business-day guarantee works are all spelled out on the go-live checklist.
